Preserving cultural heritage is a cause Indu fully believes in and a cause close to her heart. This made Theyyam the subject of her focus, especially for its artistic richness. Through her writing and photographs, she portrays and documents the authenticity of the art, the commitment of the artist and the sincerity of the emotion.
Indu is an environmentalist turned preservationist. Shepursued her Master's in Environmental Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Later, she returned to India to work with policy think-tanks such as The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), New Delhi and Vasudha Foundation. On deputation, she went to the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests to be a part of the Rio +20, or the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD). Her last professional assignment was at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras.
Since end-2017, Indu has immersed herself in Theyyam. Going forward, she would like to revive lesser known cultural traditions and bring the artists, who are a part of this cultural capital, into spotlight and close to many people.
